About us

North Lincolnshire Museums collects and preserves objects and information to enable people to discover the story of North Lincolnshire and its residents. The collection contains objects telling the story of the area from its geological origins to the modern day.

North Lincolnshire Museums consist of two venues, North Lincolnshire Museum in Scunthorpe and Normanby Hall Country Park. Objects from the collection can be found on display at both venues, as well as at Brigg Heritage Centre.

There are over 400,000 objects in the collection, some of which are available digitally on the North Lincolnshire Museum CollectionsOnline page. Curatorial staff will continue to make new objects records live.

North Lincolnshire Museums has been collecting and caring for objects for over 100 years. Our collections include objects that evidence harmful histories of discrimination, violence and racism.

As a result, some of our collection records contain offensive terms and representations. We are committed to addressing hurtful legacies contained in our collections. Objects connected to these legacies help us understand and examine complex histories.

Our work is ongoing, and we welcome your help in identifying any records we could improve or change, or that cause offence or harm. Please send any feedback to museum@northlincs.gov.uk.
