The Theddlethorpe Ring
Description
Viking silver finger ring with a whorled knot terminal and stamped decoration composed of alternating, interlocking stamps of two different sizes, but both consisting of a lozenge-on-triangle filled with pellets. The very large size suggests it was not made to be worn on a finger or thumb. Instead, it may be a piece of bullion, perhaps carried on a thong or in a purse.
