Silver-gilt Annular Brooch

Description

Silver-gilt oval annular brooch and pin. The brooch frame formed from four strands of silver wire decorated with a beaded effect, pressed together to form a solid band which is tilted or chamfered. Bands of beading form diagonal strips across the outer surface. There is a constriction for the pin, where there are just two bands of wire forming the frame. The pin is bent round the frame and has a thick collar with a groove along it before the loop. It then tapers to a point. The brooch has been gilded on both faces. There are two areas of damage to the frame where is has been distorted. The composite construction can be seen in these areas.
