Lace Tag

Description

A silver lace tag (or aglet), dating from the late Medieval to Post Medieval period, about AD 1300 - 1650, but most likely to be AD 1400 - 1600. It is tubular, of circular cross-section, and tapering from 4.7mm diameter at the attachment end, to 2.5mm and then a closed point at the other. The seam appears to be overlapping, and is curved, but it has been very neatly finished and smoothed, so it is barely visible. There is no evidence of a rivet at the attachment end, and no visible decoration.
