Dragonby Mars Ultor Figurine

Description

Copper alloy figurine of Mars Ultor, or Mars the Avenger, wearing military uniform and helmet. He once held a spear in his right hand and shield in his missing left hand. Though this is a Roman god, the flat profile and lentoid eyes suggest the figure was made by a native Romano-British metalworker. Found during excavations at the Dragonby Iron Age – Roman settlement.
