Habrough Chess Piece
Description
King chess piece, made from Antler. Found during the laying of a pipe in Habrough churchyard. Chess originated in India where the king was shown mounted on an elephant. The two steps on the front of the Habrough king represent the elephants forehead and the front of the howdah in which the king rode. Loaned by the Parochial Church Council of Habrough.
